Offish Productions presents the first official compilation featuring efforts of sixteen artists from different backgrounds and countries. The release focuses on exploring grim, worn out sound of the future we all are deeply passionate about.
• THE BLACK HAUNTED SWAMP opens the compilation with its ominous voodoo atmosphere. The intricate layers of foley recordings combined with chanting and tribal beats instantly transport listener to a different place.
• IMAGINE gets to action instantly with hard-hitting breakbeats, ruthlessly pushing forward until the end. The track is built just like oldschool drum & bass used to sound like - chopped amen breaks, catchy, straight to the point synth stabs and sci-fi soundscapes are all blended together.
• SHAMAN is a gritty piece of work inspired by the sounds of No U-Turn, Renegade Hardware, Technical Itch, and the “calling” process endured by shamans during their initiation.
• BULLET sounds like a fierce chase through dimly lit backstreets in a futuristic metropolis. The intense, techno-like pounding rhythm won't let you catch a single breath.
• EKIBYŌ is Japanese word that translates directly to "plague" or "pestilence". A fitting name to portray the menacing atmosphere with throbbing bassline and steppy drums accompanied by faint, detuned samples of real life instruments.
• REALISE focuses primarily on the short midrange bass sweeps and minimalistic approach, sparingly adding new elements to the arrangement.
• SYNTHETIC FLESH is a fast-paced percussion driven two-step piece, inspired by a little known electro track with same title. The multi-layered, dense barrage of rhythms makes it roll forward effortlessly.
• FACING THE VOID was an attempt to write something aimed at the dancefloor. The drums are a lot straighter than TRC normally makes and form the driving force behind the song. These are enveloped by big sub-heavy bass and sprinkled with off-kilter synth-work - designed to disorientate nicely.
• XENOSHADOWMORPH - much the title suggests, an angular exoskeleton of metallic percussion supports a biomechanical system of morphing, acidic midrange. Splintering breakbeats strike suddenly from the peripheral as a swirling, paranoid atmospheric pressure fills the room with unearthly drones, distorted voices and distant echoes of an unknown life form.
• MUSIC IS FREQUENCY takes step into different direction - creatively transforms and mangles breakbeats in true jungle fashion. The busy drumwork contrasts with long, ambient soundscapes that constantly fade in and out in the background.
• TURNING POINT was born from going through thousands of audio files and soundscapes taken from various video games. Essentially the whole composition got built around the vocal sample in the intro.
• DRIVE YOUR PLOW - sometimes titles feel important, sometimes they’re a distraction. This track was inspired by a book that matched the dark ambiance.
• RAMPART doses halftime action in short, intense bursts. The track stands out thanks to sharp, synthesized percussions and offbeat drum patterns.
• DIABLERIST has been written during the hot summer nights in Brno as a collaborative effort. Rolling breaks bred with the both inner and outer darkness reflect the momental state of mind of creators and inspirations in grim, futuristic aesthetics.

well done! pure dope, fantastic output by quartz. metalheadz is such a great label! quartz has his own sound, blacklist fits perfectly to the metalheadz tradition. it is both kind of retro and futuristic. highly recommended, play it loud, the bass kicks:-) that's the way i like it. quartz became quickly my favourite producer in this kind of music. dub orange
